Ethel's Beauty Soap

This product is double effective for both skin whitening and bleaching. It is effective against freckles, acne scars and age spots. The product is also formulated with unique ingredients that nourish the skin. If you have stubborn dark areas of the skin such as your inner thighs under arms, Kojic Acid & Glutathione Dual Whitening/Bleaching will lighten these areas effortlessly.

Additional Information about Glutathione & Kojic.

How does glutathione works when applied directly to the skin?

  1. It is the major antioxidant (aka anti-aging stuff) produced by the body.
  2. It helps whiten the skin by stopping melanin from forming.
  3. Smoothens skin texture.
  4. Accelerates skin cell turnover.

But how does glutathione soap lighten your skin?

Applying a topical product (like soap) that contains glutathione directly into our skin helps stop melanin (dark pigments) from producing. What does this mean for you? Well, if your body stops producing dark pigments, then your skin will get lighter. The more melanin you have in your body, the darker you are. Therefore if you’re using a glutathione-based soap on her face and body,  , you will eventually achieve a lighter and flawless skin tone. Micro exfoliation (skin peeling) is another benefit of using glutathione soap. It exfoliates the top layer of the skin to remove dead and dull skin cells, which cause pimples/acne.  Also, microexfoliation feels like having a microdermabrasion because your skin will feel soft and smooth after.

Aside from its skin lightening effect, using a glutathione soap helps treat skin problems like melasma, hyperpigmentation, acne or pimple scars, sun spots, freckles, uneven skin tone, etc.

HOW LONG YOUR FOOD ACTUALLY LASTS IN THE FREEZER

Stop treating the food in your freezer like it's going to stay good forever. Your freezer is not a cryonic chamber, and your food is not Walt Disney's head. Unlike Walt, who will live forever, the food in your freezer doesn't stay edible until the end of time -- it greatly reduces in quality so much you wouldn't want to eat it.

Note that this doesn't mean the food will be unsafe to eat, but that it will probably be super gross, especially if you don't use a fancy vacuum sealer). Print it out, stick it to the fridge with magnets, and never eat a freezer-burned sausage again.

5 Simple Steps to improve your Decision Making.

To solve difficult problems, you need to make difficult decisions.

In this post, I will unpack five tips to help you improve your decision making process.

1. Don’t delay

Simple decisions are fun. You can tick them off your to do list and feel like you’ve accomplished something along the way. When the stakes increase and you’re faced with making a critical business decision, don’t delay because it’s difficult.

Dedicate a focused block of time each day to work through the pros, cons, risks and realistic outcomes of your decision. Consider the second and third order effects of your decision during this session.

Sweeping problems under the rug will not help you make better decisions.

2. Shelve ego and emotion

Decision making can be difficult because you become too personally invested in how a decision will make you look and feel. Can you objectively solve the problem? Yes! List potential causes and put your emotion and ego on the back-burner.

Imagine your business isn’t generating enough revenue to hit your target. What is the specific cause of this?

  • Do you have a positioning issue?
  • Is your pricing right?
  • Do your potential customers know your brand?
  • What can help you solve these problems?
  • You will make better decisions by focusing on the facts instead of personal deficiencies. If you need help with anything in your business, from marketing through to customer service, you have options.

Self-awareness is an entrepreneurial power play.

3. Ask an expert

The decision you’re making has likely been made in the past. While the problems you’re trying to solve are unique to you, it’s highly probable that someone else has solved the same issue at a larger scale.

Luckily, entrepreneurs are very approachable and love to help each other. To get an expert help with your question, research the influencers in the area you need help with, then send three of them a quick note to ask for their help. Serve up the facts, your thoughts and the options you are considering.

A neutral third-party to help you make decisions will keep you objective.

Work from a proven playbook instead of trying to reinvent the wheel.

4. Question your data

You will never have complete data to make your decision. This is OK.

It’s still your responsibility to seek the rightdata. Relying on a friend’s opinion as a trusted data source may land you in hot water. Instead, use qualitative and quantitative customer feedback if you’re making a decision that impacts your customers. Use industry trends, research reports and ask experts in your field if you’re making a strategic move. The only thing that is worse than having no data is trusting the wrong data, so be vigilant about the inputs to your decision making process.

Seek trustworthy data and your decision making ability will skyrocket.

5. Plan for doomsday

The final step of decision making is understand the underlying risks of the decisions you make.

I like to call it planning for doomsday. Take 10 minutes to deeply consider the absolute worst case scenario of the decision you’re about to make. For example, if you need to let someone go from your business, what is the absolute worst case outcome? Perhaps they’ll sue you for wrongful dismissal or your team will lose their motivation. There are dozens of ways to mitigate the risks of each decision, but first, you need to clearly identify these risks.

Know your risks and you will rest easy when making decisions.

When you get a decision wrong, don’t beat yourself up. Instead, reflect on why it failed, then write it down to make sure you don’t make the same mistake twice.

Rabbit Hole

My friends and I went here for some chill last Saturday night (Thanks to caloi for inviting me). This is the speakeasy bar of Bugsy's so we have to passed Bugsy's to enter the place. They have a happy hours with a buy one get one on some bottles. Night went a little late and they gave us some shots. The drink was a bit weird with tangy, gingery taste but I liked it. The music were good as well! Though it is a bit loud than what I expect on a secret bar. This place is good especially when you're just hanging with your friends.

All of my friends are lasing... me?! Nah... Im not allowed to drink.

Super Creamy Mac & Cheese

Super Creamy Mac and Cheese is insanely rich and delicious. One taste and you will be hooked. Whether eaten as a side or a main dish, this is a recipe you will want to make over and over. Three types of cheese give Super Creamy Mac and Cheese a whole lot of cheese flavor.

I’m not a huge fan of Velveeta but there’s no question it gives mac and cheese a velvety texture that is hard to achieve any other way.

Wonderfully cheesy and totally indulgent.

Life should have more mac and cheese.

Ingredients
  • 1 pound elbow macaroni
  • 8 tablespoons (1 stick) Challenge butter, cut into 1 tablespoon-sized pieces
  • 2 cups half-and-half
  • 2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 2 cups shredded Monterey Jack cheese
  • 2 eggs, lightly beaten
  • 8 ounces Velveeta, cut into small cubes
  • ¼ teaspoon seasoned salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees and butter a casserole dish.
  2. Cook pasta until just tender. It will cook more as it bakes. Drain pasta and return to pot. While pasta is still hot, add butter, and stir until butter is melted.
  3. Add the half-and-half to the pot, along with half the cheddar and Monterey Jack, the eggs, Velveeta, seasoned salt and pepper. Stir to mix well.
  4. Pour into prepared dish and sprinkle with remaining cheese.
  5. Bake for 30 to 35 minutes.

Maybeline Essentials

Binagoongan Pork Recipe

Deep frying pork belly is not for the timid, in my opinion. It calls for boldness. The pork pops and crackles violently in the seething pool of oil. Even if one compulsively pats the pork belly dry, the very hot oil still spatters in all directions. The menacing hot grease lands everywhere. On one’s fingers, on one’s arm, and on one’s once-spotless shirt.

The bold, distinct scent and taste of bagoong is not for the timid, too. Bagoong [bah-goh-ohng], for the uninitiated, is tiny shrimp, fish or other shellfish mashed with salt and then allowed to ferment until it becomes an intensely pungent but flavorful paste. The late food writer Doreen Fernandez wrote about bagoongfrom the island of Negros Occidental where shrimp that are too small to sell in the markets are mashed in the boats on the shore, with the boatmen mashing them with their bare feet and their paddles.

Bagoong alamang is the paste made from shrimp while bagoong isda is salted and fermented fish like anchovy and round scad. Bagoong Balayan is a version of bagoong isda that originated from Balayan, a town in the province of Batangas, south of Manila. It isn’t a thick paste like most bagoong but it is a smooth liquid without the faintest trace of the once-spiny fish bones that have all melted through fermentation. Whole fish grilled over hot coals accompanied with steamed sweet potato sprouts — talbos ng kamote — is impeccable with bagoong Balayan and a squeeze of calamansi juice.

Sour green mangoes are inconceivable without bagoong alamang and so is kare-kare, the stew of oxtail and vegetables flavored with toasted peanuts and thickened with pounded rice. When I eat alone at home and I pine for something simple, steamed rice fluffed with a fork and mixed with bagoong alamang sauteed in garlic, onions, and tomatoes is my go-to meal. But when I crave extravagance, crispy pork belly dressed lavishly in briny bagoong alamang — binagoongan — is the unequivocal choice. The burns on my fingers and arms, not to mention my soiled shirt, are all well worth it.

Binagoongan Recipe, makes 4 servings

1-1/2 lb pork belly, cut lengthwise into 2-inch thick slabs
6 cloves garlic, crushed
1 tablespoon salt
vegetable oil for deep frying and sauteeing
1 small onion, chopped
1 tomato, chopped
1/2 cup bagoong alamang (salted, fermented shrimp paste)
a few Thai chilies (optional)

Place pork belly, 2 cloves of garlic, and salt in a pot and add water, enough to just cover the pork. Bring to a boil and reduce to simmer. Continue to cook until the pork is fork-tender, about an hour.

Drain the pork. Measure 1/2 cup of pork stock and reserve the rest for future use. Pat the pork dry with paper towels and cut into 2-inch pieces.

Fill a wok or a pot with at least 2 inches deep of oil and heat the oil. Deep fry pork in small batches until brown. Fish out with a strainer and place on a platter lined with paper towels.

Heat oil in a pan over medium high heat. Saute onions until fragrant and softened, about 5 minutes. Add the rest of the garlic and saute until lightly browned, about 2 minutes. Add tomatoes and saute until softened, about 5 minutes. Add bagoong alamang, 1/2 cup pork stock, and chilies. Bring to a boil and simmer for 5 minutes. Add pork belly and combine well. Serve warm with steamed rice.

Champorado

Champorado is a kind of chocolate rice pudding eaten in the Philippines. This is not to be confused with the Mexican champurrado, which is more of a hot chocolate drink.

CHAMPORADO RECIPE INGREDIENTS AND PREPARATION

It can either be served hot or cold. Champorado is a major hit to Filipino families during the cold and windy rainy seasons where in it is usually served warm and drizzled with evaporated or sweetened condensed milk for added sweetness. There are many types of chocolates that can be used in making champorado. The most commonly used chocolate is the tablea of chocolate tablets. It has a slightly bitter taste because it is a by-product of the cacao plant.

The seeds of the cacao fruit, a football-shape fruit is then sun-dried and peeled. The next step is to grind the cocoa seeds to get that precious cocoa powder. It then pressed and shaped into about an inch in diameter round tablets. Some would prefer using cocoa unsweetened powder. Any type of cocoa powder can also be used just like Dutch-processed cocoa powder. You can also use chocolate blockssweet or semi-sweetor even unsweetened chocolate blocks can be totally fine. If you are using unsweetened chocolate, you can opt to add in more sugar to adjust the level of bitterness and sweetness of the champorado.

THINGS TO REMEMBER WHEN PREPARING CHAMPORADO

The seeds of the cacao fruit, a football-shape fruit is then sun-dried and peeled.

  • The next step is to grind the cocoa seeds to get that precious cocoa powder.
  • It then pressed and shaped into about an inch in diameter round tablets. Some would prefer using cocoa unsweetened powder. Any type of cocoa powder can also be used just like Dutch-processed cocoa powder.
  • You can also use chocolate blocks, sweet or semi-sweet or even unsweetened chocolate blocks can be totally fine.
  • If you are using unsweetened chocolate, you can opt to add in more sugar to adjust the level of bitterness and sweetness of the champorado recipe.
INGREDIENTS
  • 5 pieces tablea (pure chocolate)
  • 1¾ cups glutinous rice or sushi rice
  • ¾ cup granulated white sugar
  • 6 to 8 cups water
  • Condensed milk to taste
INSTRUCTIONS
  1. Pour water in a cooking pot. Bring to a boil.
  2. Put-in the tablea and then stir. Let it dissolve in boiling water.
  3. Add-in the rice. Let the water re-boil. Set the heat to low-medium and then stir almost constantly to avoid sticking. The rice should be ready when it absorbs the water (about 15 to 25 minutes).
  4. Add the sugar. Stir until the sugar dissolves.
  5. Transfer the champorado in individual serving bowls. Top with condensed milk.
  6. Serve with tuyo. Share and enjoy.

CHAMPORADO WITH TUYO

The Filipino palate can sometimes be a little odd. You might raise your eyebrow when you learn about the best partner for champorado. The Filipinos pair champorado with “tuyo”. Tuyo is a small dried salted fish.

The combination of the saltiness of the fried tuyocomplements the sweetness and richness of the champorado.  It may seem to be a little absurd, but once you try these tuyo-champorado duos you would probably be craving for more. The type of rice used in making champorado is the “malagkit” or glutinous sticky rice.

Catching up with Fab (Dinner with Flo) at Yang Chow

Chinese comfort food which is above average from the usual ones in the city. Our dinner order was the staple fare -- ramen, salt & pepper spare ribs, pancit, etc. I like it that as I suspected that they might be using msg, I asked them to omit this in which they gladly complied to. Best place to eat outside the old Domestic Airport in my opinion.

Nike+ Training NTC App

I am always looking for new and different ways to workout. One workout app that I’ve enjoyed using since it was first released is the Nike Training Club app and I was very pleased to see that they upgraded the app last year and added new features. Here is what I like (and don’t like) about the NTC workout app by Nike.

When I first installed the app many years ago I enjoyed the workout options that were available and that you could select the level of difficulty for each workout. Of course I started with the “Beginner” level, but the beginner level was no walk in the park! I got sore and saw results from the Beginner level alone, which I was very happy about! The only problem with the first version of this app was that after about a month, I got bored with the workouts since I usually only did the workouts that I liked. NTC changed that last year when they introduced programs.

THE GOOD

NikeTrainingClub-Program

Programs. I like the new “Programs” feature that NTC introduced last year. If you start a program you have to follow the workout schedule that the app provides you. The new programs keep me on track and actually forces me to do other workouts that I would not usually do, like yoga. What I like about programs is that you could also edit some workouts. For example, one workout in particular lets me decide if I’d want to do froggers or burpees. I personally am not a fan of froggers, so I always select burpees. So you could change to an exercise you prefer, or you could alternate and do both froggers and burpees. It would be great if we could edit more exercises, at the moment there are only a few exercises you could edit for each workout routine.

Nike+ Running Inclusion. Another new feature I love is the inclusion of the Nike+ Running app in the NTC workout program. If you choose to add Running to your workout, there will be a day scheduled in the week for you to run.

The latest NTC update added more workouts and a Nike store, which I think is great!

THE NOT-SO-GOOD

Incentives. While there were many great features added to the NTC app, there were things that were taken away that I definitely miss. In the previous version you could earn “prizes” for unlocking badges. Prizes included things like special recipes or other workouts. This is no longer available, you only get badge trophies for minutes or programs completed, but that’s it. It would be great if Nike gave us more incentives for unlocking badges, such as recipes, special tips and tricks, or even discounts for Nike products!

Program Flexibility. The programs could be improved as well. At the moment you cannot change the days that your workouts are scheduled. Once you start, the workout days are set in stone. And if you don’t do the workout on that exact day, it will not count. For example, the program scheduled me for the Sweat + Shapeworkout on Wednesday, but lets say I’m super motivated and want to do it on Tuesday or I have plans on Wednesday and can’t do it. When I select the Wednesday Sweat + Shape workout on a Tuesday, the app does not give me the option to do the workout. So I went back to view all workouts (outside of my program) and completed the exact same Sweat + Shape workout, but when I go back to the program schedule it still shows that I have not completed the Sweat + Shapeworkout.

You can’t complete a workout the day after either, even if it is within the same week. So if the workout is scheduled for Wednesday and I try to do it on Thursday, it doesn’t count.

Social Media Sharing. The social media sharing set-up needs to be improved, too. I have multiple Twitter accounts, one personal one and other accounts for my projects. When I want to share that I reached a milestone or completed a workout, it allows me to share on Twitter but it does not allow me to choose which Twitter account to share to. It is random and has posted to the wrong Twitter account every time.

Previewing exercises. The NTC app does show you how to do the exercises but you have to either: 1) view all the workouts before you start, or 2) view it while you workout, but this pauses the workout which wastes time and interrupts the workout. It would be awesome if the NTC app showed the exercise on the main screen while doing the workout and have the video or gif file loop while we exercise. An example of apps that does this already are the Daily Workout apps. If they could do it, I know Nike could!

Even though there is room for improvement, NTC is one of my favorite workout apps. It is like having my own personal trainer with me everywhere I go. I have it on my iPad Mini and when I’m home I even display it on my Apple TV sometimes.

Extra tip: Spotify has a wide variety of workout playlists to choose from! Stop listening to the same music over and over again while you workout. Keep it fresh and follow your favorite workout playlists on Spotify!
